If the player started the music before engaging in Totomostro, they can listen to the music player while betting on the monster matches. Initially, the music player did not work when riding chocobos, but this was changed in a patch. On the field, the music plays unless interrupted by battles or other scenes. While on the Regalia the music plays as the car is in motion. The player can't create playlists, but they can set the music to 'shuffle'. The player can operate the music player with the directional buttons. The soundtracks are not in the same order in the music player as they are in the Auto Parts menu. A number of them also came as default and were added in patches, namely the soundtracks from other properties that appear in Final Fantasy XV as collaboration projects.
The soundtracks for the player are listed in the Auto Parts section of the menu, and bought from various shops. The music player in Final Fantasy XV is known as the car radio (while in the Regalia) and the Portable MP3 Player (while on the field must be purchased from the Regalia's shop for 100 gil).
